I just returned from the Anti Eviction March in Dundalk Co Louth, great day, great weather, great people. It was fantastic to see people from all over Ireland present, the folks from Anti Household Charges from Carlow/Kilkenny folks from Trim and of course Dundalk itself, it would have been nice to see more people out but with the best of intentions and without mainstream media coverage and promotion it is difficult to get the word out, nonetheless I would estimate 70/100 people and we visited 10 Chapel Lane, the dwelling of Eugene Dooley (commonly none as Doolander) which was violently stolen by the Sheriff in Dundalk Mairead Ahern and her thugs with the assistance of An Garda Siochana last week.
It was important that the people of Dundalk were aware that there is a Sheriff in their midst and so we visited the home of Mairead Ahern in the sleepy village of Blackrock Co Louth and lo and behold An Garda Siochana were present there also.
We spent 20 minutes at the Sheriff’s house in silent/peaceful protest and we decided that the good people of Blackrock Co Louth should know that their neighbour was a Sheriff and engaged in the disgusting inhuman practice of smashing in doors with sledgehammer’s and throwing citizens out of their homes on behalf of corrupt Bankers.
I was amazed at how few people knew this and we marched on into the village, we were approached by two people who had no knowledge of the Anti Eviction Taskforce and asked for help as they were in trouble, so, Mairead Ahern-Sheriff it looks like you will be smashing in the doors of your neighbour’s soon!
Ben Gilroy was present and gave an excellent short talk as did a number of people, we revisited the Sheriff’s house again and wound up the march at the local church.
I think this should become a weekly event all around our Country, we must let the Banks know that we will not entertain outdated, 13th century Sheriff’s and their rules which originated in another Country and have no place in Ireland.
Our Constitution provides protection for homeowners in Ireland but the Gardai have somehow overlooked this and decided to break their Oath to uphold the Constitution.
In the recent case of Eugene Dooley, he had a Mortgage with PTSB (Failed Bank) which itself broke Liquidity Laws and should be facing five years in prison as a result, but we do not hear anything about that!, Eugene’s mortgage was approx 200K over a 20/25 year term so he was not in default as he has 20/25 years to repay that loan, his scheduled repayments may have gotten of schedule but the Banks and the Government are guilty of the same thing! Nobody is breaking in their Front doors with sledgehammers!
Eviction has no place in modern Ireland, Sheriff’s have no place in modern Ireland, wake up People, stand up for your fellow Citizens!

Sheriffs, bankers ,officials,etc . I am afraid You can run but You cant hide. Isnt it time to demand that the government tackle the banks officially for securitising mortages (90% of them ) without consultation………..that might become policy of DDI………….lean leis an obair mhaith.

Another question is, if it was one of their own (like the Garda Sargent in papers having trouble with his finances) would they turn up to help his eviction?
